"And so when we were pitching this, we got the most amazing reactions from Toronto broadcasters. A common thing we were told was, 'Oh, that used to exist, but not anymore.' And there's some truth to that, there is an old-fashioned resentment of Toronto, but as we've travelled the country, we've hit the motherlode. Everywhere we go, people have very strong feelings about the city, we haven't come across one Canadian who has no opinion of Toronto."

Speaking as a Torontonian who then moved to other parts of the country - it's certainly true. Unless I absolutely have to through direct questioning, I will never reveal that I grew up in Toronto for fear of having them prejudge and hate me based on nothing but the city.
It is universally loathed and the people who live there are percived as less than other Canadians.
I'm sorry, Will. I was definitely one of those ... but now I love it and never want to move away! Well, eventually. But: Tessa + Toronto.
