Man, that dude loves xylophones.

So I went to the Hylozoists tonight, largely to catch some violin string-on-xylophone action. But really, I could have gone for the visual alone: two drum kits, two bass guitars, a violin, a pedal steel, an organ, a glockenspiel, a xylophone and two vibraphones — all played by six people, clad entirely in white and so excited about making music it almost hurt, bathed in light and rocking out at the front of a beech-and-teal Anglican church.
Also, occasionally, the voice of Wayne Petti — though I really wish his other band, Cuff the Duke, had been playing as well. Their show together in March was fantastic, a much better combination than the samey-sameness of Hylozoist-copycat openers.
Anyway: hot Hylozoists MySpace action, not least because it's been entirely too long since I posted on here. More substance to come, soon — I need to post about Winnipeg (you'll be surprised!) but still can't bring myself to admit that I'm glad to be back. Oop.
