The blunt truth

Why does everyone compliment me on my bluntness?

You're welcome, I like giving people an interjection of truth every now and then.

But really, I think the compliments -- and, in fact, the majority of peoples' assessments of me -- are egregiously wrong. Not only that, but they represent a gross misunderstanding of the usefulness of truth. In fact, I'm dismayed at the lack of critical attention that is paid to how blunt comments affect people.

They hurt! They always hurt someone -- that's the point.

It is extremely disconcerting that no one understands this.
